RECON CHINCHILLA / THE BICYCLE STORYBOARD • FOR APPROVAL
01 A Christmas Wish
Christmas had brought bicycles to the village. A young chinchilla watched his
classmates wheel theirs along the snowy street.
In the shop window stood the bicycle he wished for. He lingered for a moment,
imagining the journeys they could take together.

02 A Different Need
At home, his parents had repairs to pay for. They wanted to give him that Christmas
wish, but their home needed care first.
He was disappointed. He also knew they were trying. The bicycle drawing stayed on the
table while the family sat together.

03 On the Ridge
Above the village, Sergeant Bishop settled beneath his umbrella. Beside him, Chiquitín
adjusted his pack, his notebook, and then his pack again.
Bishop watched quietly through his binoculars. Chiquitín had questions. He was
beginning to learn that noticing took more than looking.

04 What Bishop Notices
Bishop drew his apprentice’s attention to the family: parents doing their best, and a
child finding his way through disappointment.
Chiquitín listened. The important part was not the bicycle in the window. It was how this
family treated one another when things were difficult.

05 The Field Notes
Bishop recorded what he had observed with care. A hurried glance could miss the effort
behind a quiet moment.
Chiquitín opened his own notebook. He added what he had learned, then looked back
toward the village with a little more patience.

06 A Shared Gift
The Corps pooled their money. Each contribution brought the bicycle closer, and
together they could help with the family’s home repairs, too.
They planned both parts of the gift. There was room for a child’s Christmas wish and for
the practical help his parents needed.

07 A Delivery for Ash
DDS brought Bishop’s reports to the Command Center. The observations had travelled
from the ridge to Ash’s desk.
Ash opened the envelope and arranged the pages. Before writing to the family, he
wanted to understand everything his teammates had noticed.

08 Every Page Matters
Ash read every page carefully. He checked the details and returned to the passages
that needed another look.
Pencil marks gathered in the margins. Notes appeared on his tablet. Bishop’s patient
observations deserved the same attention in the Command Center.

09 A Letter of Their Own
Then Ash wrote to the family. He described the care, effort, and kindness the Corps had
noticed, and explained the help they wanted to give.
The letter was ready. Ash sealed it and placed it in DDS’s care, so the family would
know there were friends thinking of them.

10 The Bicycle
The family read Ash’s letter together. Beside them stood the bicycle, and the letter
explained that help for their home repairs was included, too.
Outside, the young chinchilla held the handlebars while his parents stood close. A
Christmas wish had become real through the care of one Corps.
